Be an Ally

How can you act as an ally?

An ally, straight ally, or heterosexual ally is a heterosexual and/or cisgender person who supports equal civil rights, gender equality and equity, and Q+ social movements and challenges homophobia, biphobia, queerphobia, and transphobia.

What can you do as an ally?

Be open to listening

Acting in solidarity to make changes
Amplify (online and when physically present) the voices of those without your privilege
Be aware of your implicit biases & do your research to learn more about the history of the struggle in which you are participating.
Do the inner work to figure out a way to acknowledge how you participate in oppressive systems and the outer work to figure out how to change the oppressive systems.
Watch your language (usage)
