Whenever possible, use images that are in the public domain or published with a Creative Commons License
Citation format in "Rights" Item field
The “Rights” field in Items should have the following text, then your citation:
These images are for educational use only.
Citation:
MLA Citation
Start with the artist, then italicize the title of the work. Date of photo. Add the collection the photo is from. Add the website title and URL.
Example:
Eppridge, Bill. Woodstock. 1969. The LIFE Picture Collection, Getty Images. History. https://www.history.com/topics/1960s/woodstock.
Creative Commons License
If the image you are using is published with a Creative Commons License, use this citation format.
TASL
- Title: with link to your image
- Author: with link to author, if available
- Source: with link to original source (ie Flickr, etc)
- License: with link to the license deed

MLA citations for images
MLA citations should be constructed with the bib elements in this order
- Intellectual contributors: Creator (Author, Composer, Photographer, etc.), Editor, Arranger, Compiler, Translator, etc…
- Title, Title of Journal, etc.
- Edition, Volume
- Publisher
- Place of Publication
- Year of Publication
- Location
- Pagination
- URL address or doi (digital object identifier)
